Application Form
Download the application form, type directly on the form (do not handwrite), and then print it and send it to NSD by mail. Completion of the application form requires students to read and agree to the NSD rules.
Application Deadlines
Students are encouraged to submit complete application packets (all required forms and documentation) and a $50 nonrefundable application fee payment by March 1. NSD will continue accepting applications throughout May. Under special circumstances, applications sent in June will also be considered.
Application Fee, Tuition Costs and Payment Schedule
A $50 nonrefundable application fee payment must be submitted by check with the application. Print the student’s complete name in the memo section of all checks for NSD. This application fee does not count toward tuition. A student must pay tuition and the application fee.
Tuition for NSD is $2200. Students who submit a complete application packet postmarked by March 1 receive a $100 discount, making tuition for these March 1 applicants $2100.
Students are notified of acceptance by email. All tuition payments must be received by NSD by May 10. Failure to pay by May 10 may result in revocation of the student’s acceptance.
Students should not make travel arrangements until they have been officially accepted by email from NSD. Acceptance will be revoked for any student who does not follow the airport information and arrival and departure times specified by NSD in travel and admitted student information on the website when making travel plans. NSD does not provide services for unaccompanied minors. Parents should plan to accompany students who cannot travel alone or arrange travel with another student.
Once accepted, a student should go to the Admitted Students section of the website and make travel plans.
Make all checks payable to National Symposium for Debate. The student’s name must be in the memo section of the check.
Mail your completed application, a $50 check, a copy of medical insurance card, proof of most recent tetanus shot and a coach’s or teacher’s letter of recommendation to:

If all application documents are not sent, your application is not complete and will not be considered. Keep a copy of the application for your records. Tuition payments are made by check payable to National Symposium for Debate and sent to NSD at the above address.
